Saints Row 2 Review
By Ceri Davies of Free Rewardz | Free iPod Nano
Game arrived on schedule, today. The first thing that hits you about Saints Row is how quick the game moves, whether you're cruising down the freeway in a stolen pick-up or sprinting while simultaneously blasting bystanders with two pistols. The graphics are excellent, and since the first game they have included the use of motorbikes and helicopters as well as cars of all type. The dialogue at times outdoes its nearest rival, Grand Theft Auto IV, and the customization of characters and gear is unlike any I've seen in any game. These are of course novelties though that soon wear off. Fortunately there is plenty to do in Saints Row 2. In between gang missions you are required to earn cash and respect by completing various activities, such as protecting a celebrity from aggressive fans or starring on the hit reality show "Fuzz", which follows the city's finest as they patrol the city, taking out criminals as they are called in. The main disappointment if you are a GTA fan, is the use of the A button to accelerate. On GTA you use the right trigger to drive, leaving your thumb free to rotate the right analog stick, which enormously helps your driving as you can move the camera as you drive, not to mention drive-by shooting which is made near impossible with these awkward controls. The other disappointment is the animation is nowhere near as realistic as GTA IV. This affects your enjoyment level in a helicopter as the controls make it difficult to really soar through the air. Overall though I would give this game a remarkable 8.5 / 10. There is definitely enough here to keep you busy for a long time to come, and although the Xbox Live does not offer as many game types as the huge Live success, GTA IV, both games are certainly deserving of a place in your collection.
